Reports & Export: PDF Cutting Report
The PDF Cutting Report is a detailed, printable document that shows every tier in your design: angles, distances, facet counts, diagrams, and proportions. It's designed to be printed and taken to the lapidary machine, or emailed to a professional cutter.
How to export
Click Export → PDF in the top toolbar. Your browser downloads a PDF file named after your design (e.g., round-brilliant.pdf).
What's in the report
- Title page: Design name, material, symmetry, total facet count.
- Proportion summary: Depth/width, table/width, girdle thickness, and diagrams.
- Tier-by-tier table: Every tier listed with:
- Tier name: e.g., "Pavilion mains", "Crown breaks".
- Angle: The facet tilt in degrees.
- Distance: The facet-plane offset.
- Cone angle: The half-angle of the imaginary cone.
- Facet count: How many facets are in this tier.
- Side: Pavilion, Crown, or Girdle.
- Crown and Pavilion diagrams: Top-down SVG views of each side, with tiers colored and labeled.
- Stone report: The same stats shown in the Inspect panel (depth/width, symmetry, weight estimate).
For cutters
A professional cutter receiving this PDF can:
- Print it and follow the tier-by-tier guide at the machine.
- Check the proportions against the design intent.
- Estimate the yield and time required to cut the stone.
- Use the diagrams to verify symmetry as they work.
Frosting in the report
If your design has frosted facets (see Frosting), they appear as separate tiers in the PDF:
- "Pavilion Frost 1", "Crown Frost 2", etc. — one tier per frosted cone-angle group.
- Each frost tier shows the angle and distance, so a cutter knows to apply frosting at that step.
Customizing the export
The PDF always includes all tiers and all details. There's no option to hide tiers or simplify — the report is always the full design.
If you want to simplify a design before exporting, edit the .facet file (delete unwanted tiers in the Developer), then export again.
See Reports & Export: Screenshot & Video for other export options.
