Reports & Export: Stone Report
The Stone Report is a quick summary of your design's key stats: facet count, tier count, proportions, estimated weight, and material properties.
Where to find it
In the Inspect panel (right side of the editor), scroll down past the diagrams to the Stone report card.
What it shows
- Facet count: Total number of facets across all sides (pavilion + crown + girdle).
- Tier count: How many tiers you've defined (e.g., "6 tiers" for a Round Brilliant).
- Symmetry: Fold count and mirror setting (e.g., "4-fold, mirror").
- Depth / Width: The ratio of the stone's depth to its width (affects the proportions and sparkle). Round Brilliant is typically 59–65%.
- Table / Width: The table (the flat top) as a percentage of the stone's width.
- Girdle: The girdle thickness as a percentage.
- Weight estimate: The estimated carat weight, assuming a specific girdle diameter and material. The estimate is rough — it's based on the volume of the theoretical shape, assuming 100% yield and no losses.
Using the report
The stone report is useful for:
- Sanity-checking: Does the facet count match your design? Does the depth/width ratio look right?
- Handoff: Share the report with a cutter or polisher — it gives them quick context.
- Comparison: Design two cuts and compare their proportions side-by-side.
The weight estimate is optimistic — expect the actual finished stone to weigh 10–30% less due to polish losses and breakage.
Weight estimate details
The volume is computed from the design's depth, width, and the 3D geometry — it's not exact (it assumes a perfect stone with no inclusions or rough spots), but it's a good ballpark estimate.
Change the material in the Material dropdown, and the weight updates to reflect the new density.
Exporting the report
You can't export the stone report as a standalone file — it's a live summary in the Inspect panel. To document your design for someone else, use:
- Export → PDF: A full cutting report with all tiers, diagrams, and the stone report embedded.
- Save: Download the
.facetfile and share it — they can open it and view the stone report themselves.
Both require a Starter plan or higher.
See Reports & Export: PDF Cutting Report for details on the full PDF export.
